Gay Frères is of the most respected names in its field, founded in Geneva in 1835, the company became renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship in metal watch bracelets and supplied some of the most prestigious names in Swiss watchmaking, including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin and many more.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDuring this period, Rolex worked with specialised external manufacturers such as Gay Frères to produce certain cases and bracelets. This allowed the brand to draw on the expertise of established jewellery and bracelet makers, while also accommodating different production requirements and local import regulations.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe hallmarks on this example add another interesting detail to its history. The two French Owl marks indicate that the gold watch was imported into France and officially assayed there.
