Audemars Piguet 'Hexagon' 18K Gold
Audemars Piguet created some seriously interesting jewellery watches during the 1970s, long before the Royal Oak became the defining image of the brand. This particular example is a beautiful representation of that period, with its geometric case, wave-like bezel and integrated woven 18k yellow-gold bracelet.
The vertically brushed yellow-gold dial adds another layer to the design, giving the otherwise clean dial a subtle texture that you rarely see today. We also love the way the bracelet tapers towards the case, continuing the same idea as the bezel while using a completely different pattern.
It’s the combination of these details that makes this one so interesting. The original AP-signed clasp is another great touch, something you don't see often. The overall design shows how differently Audemars Piguet approached their watches during this era.
A great example of vintage AP from a period when the brand was experimenting with shapes, textures and goldwork in a way that feels worlds away from the AP we know today.
