When you first see this watch, you immediately know it’s something special. But it’s only when you take the time to look closer that the design really starts to reveal itself.
The elongated hexagonal case is framed by baguette-cut natural rubies and diamonds, creating a beautiful contrast against the warm 18-karat yellow gold. The real highlight, however, is the bracelet. At first glance it appears to be a beautifully woven gold bracelet, but look closer and you’ll notice that the central section uses a completely different wave pattern from the woven sections on either side. So cool.
Dating to 1981, this is a wonderful example of the more experimental and jewellery-focused side of Audemars Piguet. AP simply doesn’t make watches like this anymore. It belongs to a period when the Maison approached watchmaking with far more freedom, allowing jewellery and design to become just as important as the watch itself.
Finding one is already unusual. Finding one in this condition is something else entirely. It is a pleasure to find and offer these kind of pieces!
