Audemars Piguet 'Cocktail' Sapphire
When most people think of Audemars Piguet, the Royal Oak is probably the first watch that comes to mind. But there is a whole different side of AP that we have always loved, the unusual jewellery watches they created before the Royal Oak became the face of the brand.
This particular piece immediately caught our eye with its sapphire-set bezel. The larger blue sapphires gradually become smaller towards the ends, creating a beautiful tapered effect around the case. Another detail we really love is the matte yellow-gold dial. It is a finish you rarely come across anymore, especially compared to the much shinier gold dials we usually see today.
The bracelet is another part that makes this watch so special. Its woven gold structure gives it a beautiful texture, while the bracelet itself tapers towards the case, following the same idea as the sapphire setting. And then there is the original AP-signed clasp, which is simply a beautiful detail to find on a watch like this.
All the design touches, the sapphires, the unusual dial finish, the woven bracelet and all the small details come together in a way that feels very different from the watches we know from Audemars Piguet today.
It is exactly these kinds of vintage pieces that we love finding, watches that show a completely different side of a maison and designs that you simply do not come across every day.
