Breguet Classique 3130
Breguet is widely regarded as one of the most historically significant names in horology. In 1794, just 19 years after founding the brand, Abraham-Louis Breguet designed and built pocket watch No. 5, a remarkable creation featuring a moonphase, date display, and power reserve indicator.
Fast forward nearly two centuries to 1970, when the Chaumet brothers of France took over the Breguet brand. In 1975, they made a pivotal decision by hiring one of the most promising young watchmakers of the time: the now-legendary Daniel Roth. Roth revitalized the brand, drawing heavily from Breguet’s historic pocket watch designs to craft elegant, contemporary wristwatches. One such creation is the Breguet Classique 3130, directly inspired by the iconic pocket watch No. 5.
The Classique 3130 features an 18K gold case paired with a stunningly intricate guilloché dial, showcasing a variety of patterns across its subdials. The coin-edge case sides pay homage to its origins, when such detailing provided extra grip for pocket watches. Produced in the early 1990s, this model retains the hallmarks of Daniel Roth’s design language, including the signature cabochon crown.
This particular example includes the original Breguet strap and buckle, and is presented in exquisite condition, a true collector’s piece.
