Cartier Gondole Ref. 17010
The early 1970s marked a pivotal chapter in Cartier’s watchmaking history. In 1973, the Maison launched the Louis Cartier Collection: twelve models combining historic Cartier design with entirely new shapes. Among them was the Gondole.creations.
The Gondole perfectly captures the creative boldness of 1970s Cartier. Moving away from the strict geometry of the Tank, its rounded rectangular case and deeply stepped bezel create a presence that feels both elegant and still playful.
We are proud to offer this beautifully preserved Cartier Gondole ref. 17010, the vertical and mid-sized interpretation of the model. Crafted in solid 18k yellow gold and measuring approximately 27 × 31 mm. The most classic size.
Finding the watches drive our passion, but what keeps it alive? Finding the pieces that are in beautiful conditions. This particular example is how we would like to find them. The case is beautifully aged, the hall-marks are crisp and the dial is crispy white. Besides that it also features its solid 18k yellow gold Cartier deployment clasp, an increasingly difficult detail to find today. Usually they are replaced with gold-plated buckles, but to be honest, that takes a way the overall flair a bit. Therefore we’re always pleased to offer pieces with the original 18k deployment clasp
Far less commonly encountered than the Tank Louis or Santos, the Gondole remains a wonderfully niche choice for collectors who appreciate Cartier beyond the obvious icons.
The watch is fully serviced and therefore it comes with a one-year warranty and our own certificate of authenticity! Cheers
