Cartier Tonneau 'Paris'

The Cartier Tonneau is a perfect example of Cartier their approach to creating unique and timeless designs. Cartier has been, is and forever will be one of the most creative watchbands in existence.

The Tonneau is introduced in 1906, just two years after the iconic Santos-Dumont. The Cartier Tonneau holds a unique place in watchmaking history as the maison's second ever wristwatch design.

Unlike the Tank, the Tonneau never enjoyed mainstream success. It was, and still is, truly a connoisseur's watch, known and sought after by those who look beyond the obvious. This 1990s example is the larger execution of the Tonneau, measuring 21mm wide and 39mm lug-to-lug, wearing elegantly on the wrist thanks to its slim, curved case that follows the natural contour of the wrist.

The 18K yellow gold case features the signature barrel shape with short downturned lugs, while the ivory guilloché dial is finished with large painted Roman numerals and a 'Paris' signature. The engraved caseback reading "Made in France" confirms what the dial already suggests, this piece was made for and sold exclusively through Cartier's flagship boutique at Place Vendôme in Paris.

It’s always a pleasure to offer pieces that aren’t seen by the masses. We buy based on rarity, based on uniqueness and overall aesthetics. Cheers!
