While brands such as Rolex, Omega and Patek Philippe were creating elegant cocktail watches, Movado quietly produced some of the era's most refined and beautifully crafted examples. Today, these pieces are remarkably interesting among collectors due to the exceptional level of craftsmanship they represent.
This beautifully preserved Movado Cocktail Watch is crafted in solid 18k white gold. The original white dial is surrounded by a factory-set diamond bezel, while the sculptural white gold lugs are further accented with factory-set natural diamonds. Completing the watch is its original 18k white gold Movado buckle, an increasingly difficult detail to find, as many examples have long since lost their original precious metal clasp.
Elegant, understated and wonderfully wearable, this is exactly the type of cocktail watch that defines the era. Pieces like these remind us that some of the most beautiful vintage watches were never produced in large numbers, making well-preserved examples increasingly difficult to source today.
