Patek Philippe Calatrava 3520
It’s sometimes difficult to express certain watches through words. Watches like these are the reason why collecting vintage watches is still growing in popularity.
The Calatrava is by far one of the most iconic models from Patek Philippe, first introduced in 1932 with the reference 96. The design of the Calatrava is specifically made to stand the test of time. Minimalism, elegance and simplicity. Less is more.
However Patek Philippe made a wide variety of Calatrava’s in the past which is the exact reason why the Calatrava is very demanded by collectors as well. The variety of design touches in a model is what makes a watch interesting.
Let’s dive into this very unique piece. This particular example is a Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 3520 which is complimented by very special design features.
The dial is obviously the star of the show. The grey sunburst dial is not easy to find, especially in a condition like this one. However, yes, finding a grey dial is difficult, but finding one with a little extra sauce like this one is special.
If you look above the 6 hour position you can find a ‘Tiffany & Co’ stamp, which indicates that the watch is sold through Tiffany & Co. In the past, Tiffany & Co stamped their name on dial, which is also rarely seen, they are also reffered as ‘double signed’ watches. These double signed pieces are very rare and often fetch a significant cerium over the non-signed models due to its historical significance, desirability and rarity. Besides the rare dial, this example is in perfect conditions. The patina on the case is very cool and indicates that the watch is never polished and worn very little. Just an incredible piece.
It’s a true pleasure to offer watches like this one. Like we said before, watches like these motivates us, to constantly explore our passion and expand our knowledge.
