The Datejust is by far one of the most iconic models from Rolex’s line-up. In 1945, the flagship Datejust was created to mark the company’s 40th anniversary, which also directly resulted in the creation of the world’s first self-winding wristwatch with a date indication. They also introduced the iconic 5-piece Jubilee bracelet, which is still seen as one of the best bracelets ever made.
The 160xx (5-digit) series was replaced by the newer 162xx (5-digit) series in the late 1980s. This Datejust series featured not only the upgraded calibre 3135 but also a sapphire glass to further enhance its robustness.
