Rolex Lady Datejust 6917 Tiger Eye

The Rolex Lady-Datejust has always been one of the brand’s most classic designs, but during the 1970s, Rolex explored a much more expressive side of the model. Alongside its traditional dials, Rolex experimented with natural hardstones

including lapis lazuli, malachite, jasper, coral, obsidian, opal and tiger eye. Since these materials are naturally formed, every dial is completely individual — no two pieces of stone will ever share the exact same colours, patterns or depth. This is what makes these dials so special.

Dating to 1979, this Lady-Datejust ref. 6917 is fitted with an exceptionally rare tiger-eye dial. Finding one is already uncommon, but finding one in this condition is something else entirely. The dial remains completely untouched and free from cracks or significant blemishes. Quite remarkable after almost five decades, but that’s exactly what we’re looking for when we are hunting down these examples.

And it’s not only the dial. The case and bracelet have also survived beautifully, making this a particularly complete and well-preserved example.
